I’m John Mullahy, the Member for Glen Waverley District in the Victorian Parliament, and your local voice in the Allan Labor Government.

Like so many in our community, I am the son of two migrants who moved to Victoria for a brighter future. I grew up in the regions, between Geelong and Ballarat, and moved to Melbourne to pursue my studies. I went on to start a small IT and telecommunications business here in the East.

My partner and I are proud parents of our young daughter, and live in the local community. We are truly lucky to live in this terrific area, with access to great amenities, green open spaces, schools and healthcare. But there is more to do. 

I got involved in politics to bring our community together in the face of division, and to do what matters for our local area. That’s why I ran for Glen Waverley District back in 2022 – and since being elected as a member of the Victorian Labor Government, I haven’t been wasting a minute.

Our community is the epicentre of the Allan Government’s bold agenda across education, healthcare, transport and job creation, with billions of dollars of investment underway in the Glen Waverley electorate, including

• Multi-million dollar upgrades at local public schools, including Forest Hill College, Vermont Secondary College, Vermont South Special School, Weeden Heights Primary School, Glenallen School, Burwood East Primary School, Parkmore Primary School and Glen Waverley South Primary School.
• The rollout and expansion of free three- and four-year-old kindergarten across the Glen Waverley District, so our youngest Victorians can get the best start in life and parents have the choice to return to the workforce, while saving families $2500 per child, per year. 
• Record investment into improved transport, with construction underway on the Suburban Rail Loop linking Glen Waverley to all major rail lines, the Metro Tunnel Project to expand capacity in the City Loop, the North-East Link Project to upgrade the Eastern Freeway and create a road tunnel to the Ring Road, the West Gate Tunnel Project to provide a second Yarra crossing and the removal of 110 level crossings by 2030.
• Delivering worldclass healthcare close to home with the expansion of free, extended hours Priority Primary Care Clinics, the establishment of a dedicated Public Elective Surgical Centre in Blackburn and the opening of Victoria’s dedicated Heart Hospital. Plus, we’re investing billions to rebuild Maroondah Hospital from the ground up and deliver a major expansion of Monash Medical Centre.
• Taking real action on climate change, with some of the world’s strongest emission reduction targets of up to 80% by 2035 and net zero by 2045, driven by the re-establishment of the State Electricity Commission to create government owned renewable energy and generate 59,000 quality jobs for Victorians.
• Nation leading progressive reforms, such as the Sick Pay Guarantee for casual workers, a Treaty with First Nations Victorians and the expansion of public IVF services.

I’m proud to be part of a government that is doing what matters for the people of Glen Waverley District, creating a fairer, stronger Victoria – for today, and for the generation of tomorrow, including my young daughter.
