I am proud to be our voice in the Allan Labor Government, fighting for the projects that matter to our local community. Whether it be across education, health or transport, there is plenty underway in the Glen Waverley District. Take a look for yourself!

Forest Hill College Upgrade

We’re investing $10.9 million in a major upgrade of Forest Hill College to transform Block A, D and M at the School. The upgrade was promised in the leadup to the 2022 State Election, and has been fully funded in the 2023/24 State Budget. It means local students will have worldclass facilities to match the school’s high quality of teaching and learning.

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East

SRL is an orbital underground rail line around Melbourne’s suburbs, with construction underway on the first stage: SRL East. Trains will be running by 2035, with stations at Southland, Clayton, Monash Uni, Glen Waverley, Deakin Burwood and Box Hill. It will slash commute times, improve local livability and transform how we move around Melbourne.

Healesville Freeway Reserve

We’re investing $10.5 million to transform the underused Healesville Freeway Reserve into a lush new park, spanning 3.5km from Springvale Road to Morack Golf Course. Parks Victoria has now released a Park Layout Plan, including details for a shared user path, sensory garden and beautiful new garden spaces. Level Crossing Free to Ringwood

As part of our multibillion dollar investment to remove 110 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne, the Lilydale and Belgrave Lines are now level crossing free between Ringwood and the CBD. It means that commuters on this busy rail corridor can enjoy safer, faster and more efficient level crossing free journeys.

Better Burwood East PS

I’m proud to be part of the Allan Labor Government which is supporting Burwood East Primary School with an $8+ million upgrade. Construction is now underway on a Senior Learning Community, which includes a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) facility. Plus, we’re investing in new toilets, landscaping and staff areas, too.

Local Primary Care Clinics

Quality healthcare close to home matters. It’s why the Allan Labor Government has rolled out Priority Primary Care Centres statewide, including one in Forest Hill and another in Glen Waverley. These great clinics provide free, extended hours care for urgent medical issues which don’t need the lights and sirens of an ED – including broken bones and minor burns.

Project Status: Two Local Centres Now Open

Blackburn Surgical Centre

I’m proud to be part of the Allan Government, which has established a dedicated public surgical centre in Blackburn – ensuring local elective surgery patients get care quickly, and close to home. The new centre provides care to 5,700 Victorians annually, helping to reduce the elective surgery waitlists that accumulated during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Status: Now Open and Operating

Glen Waverley South PS

Works are underway to deliver a major $9.6 million upgrade at Glen Waverley South Primary School. This funding will transform the school, with a new library, new food tech facilities, new performing arts space and dedicated Science, Technology Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) classrooms. Only the Allan Labor Government is getting on and making this investment.

Vermont Reserve Upgrade

We’re investing $750,000 to improve female accessibility at Vermont Reserve, including improved lighting and changeroom facility upgrades. With this investment from the Allan Labor Government, more girls and women will be able to participate in team sport and make use of the terrific grounds at Vermont Reserve. Go the mighty Eagles!

Improving Parkmore PS

Parkmore Primary School is a ripper local school, and the Allan Labor Government is investing $200,000 to improve outdoor playspaces. With works now complete, students from the local area are enjoying great new outdoor spaces for informal play, and plenty of new opportunities for structured classes, too.

Backing Wheelers Hill PS

All students across the Glen Waverley District deserve terrific school playground and sports grounds. That’s why we are investing in new outdoor facilities at Wheelers Hill Primary School, with $1.2 million allocated to resurface the school oval and construct a new playground for students and staff. Design work has now been completed, and construction is underway.

Supporting Our Special Schools

Special Schools do incredible work supporting students living with disabilities – and that’s why the Allan Labor Government is delivering major upgrades at every single Special School in the State, including $10.1 million for Vermont South Special School and $8.9 million for Glenallen School. These funding injections will completely transform both of these schools.

Transforming Vermont SC

As part of the Allan Government’s ongoing investments into our great local schools, we’re building a brand new school gym at Vermont Secondary College. It means local students will have high quality sporting facilities at school. This investment is in addition to $4.8 million in funding that has delivered brand new classrooms for Vermont Secondary students and staff.

Building a Better Highvale SC

Highvale Secondary College is a terrific local school serving hundreds of students in the Glen Waverley Electorate. That’s why the Allan Labor Government is investing half a million dollars to upgrade the school’s roof, in addition to a $10 million investment in new teaching and learning spaces completed in our second term of government.

Big Housing Build

The Andrews Labor Government is investing more than $5.3 billion to create 12,000 new social housing dwellings across the state – including in the Glen Waverley Electorate. In our community, a number of important housing projects are underway. Recently, 60 residents moved into housing dedicated for vulnerable women – giving them the safety and comfort of a home.

Project Status: Construction Complete

Weeden Heights PS

Weeden Heights is a terrific local primary school, and the Allan Labor Government is helping to make it even better, with a $5.8 million investment. This boost will provide worldclass facilities, including a transformed A Block for staff and students. Detailed design work is now underway, with the Victorian Schools Building Authority working with Weeden Heights PS.

Monash Medical Centre

We’re continuing to support Monash Medical Centre as they go from strength to strength providing hospital care for Melbourne’s South-East. We have already delivered a 34-bed expansion of the Emergency Department – but there is more to do. That’s why we’re investing up to half a billion dollars into a new theatre complex, birthing suites and Intensive Care Unit.

Improving Highbury Road

Brand new traffic lights are now working on Highbury Road, between Springvale Road and Blackburn Road, providing increased safety for pedestrians, cyclists and road users. The idea was first raised by local primary school students, and thanks to the Allan Labor Government, we’ve made it happen with a $870,000 investment.

Maroondah Hospital Rebuild

The Allan Labor Government is delivering even better hospital facilities for our growing community. That is why we’re investing up to $1.05 billion to rebuild Maroondah Hospital from the ground up, creating the new Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Ringwood. It will include a major expansion of the Emergency Department, inpatient unit, surgical suites and specialist facilities.

Monash Tennis Centre

Construction is well underway at the Monash Tennis Centre, thanks to a $21 million investment from the Allan Labor Government to support sports clubs, including those impacted by North East Link construction. The centre will be home to a total of 18 courts, including two show courts, golf facilities, a beautiful new pavilion and open space upgrades at the Jells Park based facility.

Backing Waverley Woodworkers

Waverley Woodworkers do terrific work in our community, creating social connection and allowing interested members to learn new skills. They do great work, and that’s why the Allan Labor Government is backing them with a $50,000 grant as part of the 2023/24 State Budget. This will give the Woodworkers even better equipment for the work they do.
